Comments:
I am grateful to the Azores-Finland Friendship Consortium for this opportunity
to operate their fine station.
We operated here with Martti OH2BH as CR2X on 160, and myself as CR2A on 15.
Juha OH8NC was also there, TNX to him for the logistics and mental support.
15 meters was pretty good to the U.S. but the opening lasted only about 10
hours each day (from 12 t0 22Z). The West Coast was workable about 3-4 hours
each day. I checked the band each night but there were no sporadic openings.
15 m single is ideal for the older contester. You sort of "work" for 10 hours
daily, and the rest of the day is "leisure". You sleep well, eat well, and you
still can challenge the existing European 15M record.
The rig was Yaesu 1000MP Field + Linear 1 kw
Ant: 3 over 3 stack for 15M.
