Comments:
Four VERY frustrating hours of contest radio...combination of very poor band
condx, bad operating strategy and execution, with some bad luck thrown in. I
felt like a QRP station all evening -- a real struggle.
20m was miserable, 40m was sub-par (I stayed way too long on both bands) and
was complicated with all the digital junk. Many lost jumpballs and unanswered
CQs too...not even the RI mult hr seemed to help add a few dB!
Slowly gained traction on 80m but MUCH to late...severe damage already done
with worst QSO count and score by far in this my 3rd NA Sprint (felt like a
first-timer). Missed 4 or so mults heard with decent sigs...most frustrating
miss was NJ on 80m -- simply out of synch many times.
Just a tough evening for SO1R, low power, single el wires and an op with too
many QLF moments...nice to work many of the Thurs Night NS gang though. The
LP-only format in NS certainly promotes more productivity among the "little
pistol" stns...no getting crushed by QRO-to-QRO contacts there.
73, Bill W1WBB
