Comments:
Used TOM in memory of my good friend Tom Moore, WX4TM (SK). Had several
contacts remark that there were alot of TOMs in Alabama. I am glad that so
many of the Alabama Contest Group members and others supported this in memory
of TOM. Really miss my old friend!
I got to this a little late. Spun through 10m but did not hear a single
signal. Could not try 15m, antenna is still non-op.
Landed on 20m and found that band in very good condition. The 204BA is a
little high for this contest, but I have a solution for that coming later this
spring.
40m was excellent. Bounced back and forth between the 40m Delta Loop and the
Cushcraft 40-2CD. Both seemed to work very well. I continue to be amazed at
how well the Delta Loop works!
Landed on 80m around 0110Z and the band seemed to have low noise, so I thought
it would do very well. With an inverted vee at 65', I thought signals were not
loud but were copyable. Noise was about S8 and most signals were just a little
better. All was pretty good, until one of the groups with "Legal Limit" landed
just (2khz) above me. Those boys were really filling up the envelope!
Worked about 7 hours. Just ran out of steam around 0300Z went to watch some of
the football game and fell asleep, that was all she wrote.
Thanks to everyone for the QSOs.
Jim/KC4HW (aka TOM)
