Comments:
Unusually high activity from Europe especially on the low bands made this an
especially memorable and enjoyable contest.
Congratulations to the KC1XX Team for their amazing claimed score. I'm sure no
one anticipated their record breaking ten thousand QSOs with the solar flux in
the mid-seventies.
Congratulations to the K3LR Team for another high scoring effort from "almost
Ohio." and all of the other multi-multi teams who compete in this highly
competitive and very enjoyable aspect of our shared hobby.
We used a local CW Skimmer at W3LPL for the first time, consisting of VE3NEA
Skimmer Server software and a QuickSilver QS1R direct sampling wideband
digital
receiver fed by a 160-10 meter antenna multiplexer constructed from six W3LPL
Bandpass Filters.
http://www.k1ttt.net/technote/w3lplfil.html
The local CW Skimmer was fed by one or more preamplified Beverage antennas on
160 and 80 meters fed through K9AY switches and various large stacked Yagi
arrays on 40 through 10 meters.
We supplemented the local CW Skimmer with connections to the Reverse Beacon
Network, VE7CC's skimmer aggregator and several traditional AR-Cluster and DX
Spider networks.
The huge volume of spotting data now generated by CW Skimmers resulted in very
different operating strategies especially during the opening hours to Europe
on
each band. A second station on every band with a very skilled operator and
interlocks preventing thetransmission of two simultaneous signals is far more
important than ever before for a top tier competitive multi-multi station.
The W3LPL Team extends seasons greetings to all of the 2010 CQ WW CW DX
Contest
competitors. Your participation and enthusiasm make this contest better and
better with each passing year, and with every infusion of new technology.
