Comments:
First contest I've worked in Assisted mode (TELNET). Sure populates the bandmap
better than manually! And the Avail Mults & Q's began as solid GREEN, for
double mults! Alas, they remained solid on 80 and 160 (antennas cover CW
only), and "mostly" green on 40, where only a SteppIR vertical is the only
stick.
20m was its usual self--crowded and busy, but 15 was spectacular--as crowded as
20m and with stable propagation--no Es stuff. Some amp problems limit output
power to 500 watts, but that was enough for the majority of Qs.
Although 10m spots were plentiful, I heard only a few but worked all I heard.
The Zones didn't come from the US...
I need some serious antenna work on the low bands before next year's event.
Pileup manners were unusually good, with most ops going QRX when the op at the
bottom of the pile gave a couple of call letters. That really improves the
overall rate.
Hope the condx for CQ CW are at least as good, if not better on 10 and below.
Many thanks to CQ Mag for sponsoring this fine event, and thanks to all the ops
who made this weekend the good fun it was!
