Had a lightning storm in August causing some damage:
(1) MFJ Tuner replaced, A-D Lightning Arrestor replaced. 100' of LMR-400
replaced.
(2) New dipole installed, now fed with LMR-400 -- the RG8X melted in several
places from the storm.
Also replaced all grounding with upgraded copper rods - 6 total, and at the
entry to the home new A-D arrestors on a copper buss mounted on standoff
insulators. Had ANOTHER storm this week - blew two pole pigs off the power
service on my street, blew all of the powerline arrestors. NO DAMAGE to any
antenna or radio equipment.
Worked 4-hours less than last year, and nearly beat last year's score (24 Qs
fewer). 20 Meters and 40 Meters were not good for me but 15M came through
along with surprise contacts on 10 Meters. Have a new limitation ... bought an
SAMSUNG 80000 LED HDTV. Any operation over 50W results in the signal taking
control of the HDTV - not TVI - Control Interference. I variably turn the set
off, change the source, change configurations ... etc. 75 Meters does the most
to the set... does not interfere with DirecTV, Audio System or any of the other
HDTV sets in the house. Suspect SAMSUNG design is flawed, appreciate any input
from anyone having similar issues!
