Comments:
Once again, work conspired to keep me mostly on the sidelines this year, but
this was still a significant improvement over last year's business trip to
VU-land during the PaQP weekend. I ran high power and mostly called CQ; the
highlight of the contest was seeing the last 10 rate meter hit 202 at one point
during a furious 15 minute period on 80M CW around 2330Z. I did call a few CQs
on SSB and confirmed that a.) the microphone does still work and b.) I don't
have enough of a signal for voice contesting.
My antennas definitely favor DX and that really showed in this one: only 28 PA
counties worked against 43 sections and a decent amount of DX (and I did spend
most of my short time in the contest on 40M - 160M).
Nice to work many of the Thursday night contesting group and thanks to AA3B for
QSYing up the band for a rare event for me: a 160M phone QSO.
Rig: K3
Amp: AL-80A (500 - 700W)
Antennas
20M: inverted V
40M: quarter-wave vertical
80M: quarter-wave inverted L
160M: the 80M L with a tuner
K9AY RX Loop (just amazing how much of a difference this makes)
Thanks to all for the QSOs!
73,
Joe
