Comments:
Preparation for the contest began one week before by installing a new dipole for
40m and 80m bands. The only possible mounting direction was not ideal for DX-ing
(west-east ant axis), however, even better than w/o any antenna. Actually, it
worked fine, much better than e.g. an FD4. In the middle of the city the noise
level was extremely high at night, yet we worked a few very nice dx stations
like ZL. Sunday morning during tuning the PA suddenly the SWR was infinity.
Probably, I lost one part of the ant and could not match it at the normal tuner
position. Also the reception got worse. After the contest we had a storm and the
fixing of the wire has broken. The ant came much faster down as we thought, hi.
The conditions were pure and there were very few calling station on our
CQ-frequency. On the other hand, one should not expect too much from a 3 ele 3
band beam. Nevertheless, it was a great fun to receive the QTCs, I had a real
fast telegraphy contest feeling especially with Russian HAMs.
Thank you all for calling DL0FU, hear you soon.
