Comments:
I wanted to learn about the path between New England and JA, so I asked Dave to
participate in this contest during my short visit to the State of
Massachusetts.
Unfortunately, 15mb never opened except for several big guns who made it via
the scatter from the South Pacific. 20mb was a main band, with two openings
during our sunrise and sunset. In fact, the opening after our sunrise (their
night) was much better with the West Coast guys skipping to JA, but also was a
hard sell because many JAs were beaming to Europe. 40mb had a skewed opening
via the South Pacific before and around our sunrise, and via the normal path
after our sunrise. I asked Okano-san, JH4UYB, to QSY to 80mb, which was the
only QSO made there.
The propagation was far from ideal, but I am satisfied with making more than
150 QSOs in the end. Thank you for JA friends who called me.
Best 73,
de Icko, W1/JA1BPA
