Comments:
Well its ABOUT TIME!
For the first time in many years, there was a respectable north-south opening
on 10 meters. I spent a good 3 - 4 hours on Saturday extracting as many mults
as I could from my close in location. The guys further south were doing much
better. In addition, 15 was the best in years with a 6 - 7 hour opening to
every corner of the States and Canada.
Years of putting effort into improvements at the station havepaid off. We were
loud on all bands and nothing broke during the contest. Although one computer
sent the occasional chopped character which didn't occur during testing.
Since the station was in such good shape, there was no excuse the not push the
operator and strategy to the limit. After no sleep for 40 hours, I just kinda
lost it early Sat morning. A couple of short cat naps stopped the
hallucinations and got us back into action.
Ended up beating last year by almost 2 m points, so I doubt it will ever get
any better until conditions fully return.
Now its on to the 160 SSB next weekend with a few new tricks this year too.
Thanks for all the skeds and moves.
73,
John, K6AM/ZF2AM
