This was my first time participating in the RTTY ROUNDUP
and boy was I amazed. I didn't anticipate this much activity
so this was a very pleasant surprise. Nothing found at all
on 10 meters, maybe next year the sunspots will return to
change that.
I woke up Sunday morning to our first snowfall of the season
in Arkansas. I was working 80 meters and had been on the
air for two hours before I realized we had a slight dusting of
snow on the ground.
Many thanks to everyone who dug out my signal. I apologize
to the few of you I attempted to dupe. For some reason, my
logging software dislikes a few call signs and thinks they
haven't been worked. Not sure what is going on there. Also,
I apologize to those of you that tried to answer my CQ calls but
I couldn't hear you. There's only so much a vertical can hear!
I missed Nevada (not sure how, worked California and Arizona all
day both days), Nebraska, and the always elusive North Dakota.
I didn't use the cluster so probably missed the spots on these guys.
The setup here was a Yaesu FT950 with a Butternut HF9V ground
mounted vertical with lots of radials. This simple setup came through
for me again and gave me hours of fun during this contest. I hope
to put forth more of an effort next year.
