Comments:
A highlight was being called by VK6AA on 40 meters at 2306Z Sunday on 40 meters.
Another fun part was holding 14002 all day long on Saturday. The usual pecking
order down in that rarified air was blurred by the use of all the odd prefixes.
I used my new K3, which arrived a few days before the contest. It is a very
fine CW rig. Couldn't resist going to 80 meters on Saturday night and running
EU. Maybe I should have tried 160! But it's all about 40 meters in this
contest.
A second radio would have been helpful for checking 15 meters and hunting for
more prefixes. I never went there on Saturday as I was having too much fun
pretending to be a big gun on 14002.
It was really fun spending the last hour or two running EU (and others) on 40
meters and watching the score zoom upward, owing to the point structure of this
contest.
Thanks to Jim, AD4J, for letting me use his callsign and to the XYL, Margaret,
for putting up the towers and all the antennas with me.
73,
Peter K3ZM
