Comments:
Was expecting a phone call around time for the NS, so didn't plan on getting on.
While waiting, I played around in the SNS for a few minutes. Afterwards, I
tuned around 20m a bit, and was surprised to hear a few good signals from the
East coast. Haven't heard that at that time in a lonnnnng time. Since I was
still set up from the SNS, I decided to get into the NS, at least until my
phone call rang.
20m was amazing. With my little wire, signals from the East and Midwest were
much better than from the West. Even Torr was strong here. How can that be at
that time of night? I ended up staying on 20 for almost half of the 30 minutes
-- probably too long.
When I did go to 40, it was really hopping with BIG signals. Got beat a lot
there, but kept up a decent rate. 80 was reasonably quiet for a change, and a
few minutes there picked up a few mults.
My phone call came in just before the end while I was on 80m. I made him QRX,
but got kinda rattled and messed up a few calls. Sorry, Dave (N5DO, etc).
With all the activity, and good condx, tonight would have been fun with no
dupes -- hint, hint ;-)
73,
Jim, w5jaw
