Comments:
Well, that was NOT as much fun as I had hoped it would be. First RTTY effor as
single Op (assisted). I did a lot of spotting until someone told me that my
spots were ALL 2.4khz off ! YIKES - Sorry about that. Don't know why that
would be the case so I will be asking the brain trust at NCCC. Could not get
the rig to go FSK so had to do AFSK - that means without the benefit of Rig
RTTY Filters! There is a good bit of noise generated by the PC video that
apparently gets into the audio lines goes over the air. Gotta work on that too!
I been studying about RTTY all week on the various web sites dedicated to this
mode and come away somewhat confused and not fully prepared. But the NCCC
wanted lotsa ops on so I threw my hat in the ring and gave it a go. Was
surprised to make this many Q's but it was not as much of a challenge as hand
sent CW (my usual mode). Well, getting on RTTY was my 2008 New Years
Resolution... made it by a couple of days! Don't know if I will be back
though. The technical interface and noise issues have me frustrated.
