Comments:
Prior to the contest, I got the pulley un-stuck at the top of my 50 foot palm
tree. Yeah! While I was at it, I raised the low end of the 80 meter dipole,
so that the end is out of the pine tree.
I always struggle at the beginning of SS with the exchanges, but I eventually
get the hang of it. I missed the tough 2 Canadian sections NT and NL. I
really
need an antenna with gain to work them. My sweep mug will have to wait. At
least I got the pin (for 75 sections).
Thanks to the Zero-land guy who put VE4 on the air.
My strategy was to stay off of 20 meters as much as possible when 15 was open.
I eventually went multiplier hunting on 20. I wanted to try out my
improvements
on my 80 meter sloper, and had a run going for about 2 hours around midnight.
That is a record for me.
I think I will sit out the SSB SS because I have some antenna work to do
for the 10 Meter contest. Maybe I will make a few contacts.
Rig:
FT-990
Ants:
80 meter dipole sloping from 50 feet (improved)
40 meter inv vee at 50 feet
20 meter dipole at 20 feet oriented NE
15 meter dipole at 25 feet
SW: N3FJP SS Logger - I still think it beats N1MM for SS
