Comments:
Forty meter SSB is always a challenge. However, it was good to see the
increased use of 7125 - 7200 simplex by DX stations. This reduced the amount
of split operation that dictates search-and-pounce and the frustration over DX
stations (especially multipliers) who would not listen "UP." It was
distressing to hear some stateside stations intentionally work DX statios
out-of-band. These were not simply a case of "wrong VFO." I discovered
somewhat late in the contest that my newly installed EU beverage could hear the
PW stations whereas the transmit antenna picked up all the "crud." First time
using a transceiver with dual VFOs thus eliminating much of the button pushing.
Station: FT-1000MP to L4B @ 1 KW to M2 2-el Yagi @ 100 ft. two miles from the
Atlantic Ocean. Always great fun!
