Comments:
Didn't have any prep time as there was a 40m antenna problem that needed to be
fixed. Started out fine on 20m, tho way behind the real contester's rates, and
left 20m after about 35 minutes because there wasn't much action there. 40m
started out good, but then made the mistake of taking a 5 min snack break, and
came back with my concentration broken. Had to ask for a lot of repeats, so
took some time away to get recollected. Came back and my neighbor with a KW
was ragchewing on 40m and his transmitted phase noise wasn't too bad, but
combined with the QRM to make copy difficult. So, moved to 80m early, and
really struggled there. The vertical worked fair, but I could call and nab
someone, but on the 2nd QSO, few could hear me. So, had to QSY a lot and look
fresh, really hitting the rate. (Rate isn't something I usually worry about
anyway, but it seemed really slow tonight.) My totals show that, along with
the time away, the time on the air wasn't very productive. Probably has
something to do with this being the first time I've been on the air in months .
. . But still had fun! See y'all next time, hopefully I'll have improved my
skills by then.
