Comments:
The QRN and fast QSB made this contest very tiresome so I gave my ears a
reprieve and only operated about 7 hours. My apologies to those stations that
called me without response because I couldn't copy through the miserable
conditions. I heard many weak signals fading in and out of the noise level.
Since I wanted to maximize rate, rather than score, I spent almost all my time
on 20 & 40 meters calling CQ. I was able to keep the rate meter above or near
100 Qs per hour for a good portion of my operating time. I tried 15 meters
with little success, but I received an e-mail from my "spy" in Hawaii (KH6DV)
who said I was the only mainland station that he heard (off the back of my
tri-bander)on 15 meters! I never heard KH6 in this competition. I eagerly
anticipate the upswing of the next sunspot cycle; it can't come soon enough to
suit me. Thanks for the Qs.
