Comments:
Thanks to all who braved this first NS Ladder under not so great band conditions
on 20 meters.
Unexpected trip home from So Cal for XYL's birthday allowed me to participate
in the fun . . K3STX asked how I could get away with this on night of XYL's
birthday dinner out . . well two things. NS is short, and maybe the flowers
delivered to her work on Wednesday helped.
I liked the use of the call in place of the traditional name; not only is it
more of a copying challenge, but did any one else have the urge to send their
original call when soliciting the 2nd Q on the frequency?? Maybe I'm the only
one with this problem because I hand send in the NS (no computer-generated CW).
My feeling is not to continue this call letter thing but switch back. either
next week or soon thereafter, to traditional name. But I'll go with what
others think.
There were two problems for me in this NS: For one QSO I missed the original
call, so without thinking said "Call?" you know what happened there. Then I
said "Name?" and he send his actual name :-). If we continue to use original
callsign in place of name, we need a work-around for that problem. Second
problem, on someone's advice I used the WL Internet Sprint module, but it
wouldn't generate a Cabrillo file, so couldn't use the N4AF program.
Interesting to see the first calls: VA7ST sending VE7EIE . . reminded me of my
novice-days good friend K6EIE. Also enjoyed W7OM/W7KIM, my daughter's name, and
ns3t/K3IKE, Ike being pres when many of us started this ham radio thing.
