Rig: IC-756ProIII
Ant: Coax Inverted L with four 1/4wl and eight 1/8wl radials
PWR: 5 Watts
The conditions were not as good as I hoped they'd be. The static crashes were
so bad at times that wanted to turn off the rig. I need more radials, that's
for sure. Like someone else noted it was interesting to see who could hear me
and couldn't. There was very little correlation between their signal strength
and their ability to hear me. However, it was their hearing capability that
made the contact, so more power to ya!
Last time I participated was in 2005 and it seems there were a lot more
stations on than there were this time, but maybe I'm wrong. I remember that
there were wall to wall stations in the past, and now perhaps half as many.
I lost one tree to the heavy winds from my antenna orchard this Sunday.
Fortunately, it wasn't supporting any antennas.
Thanks to all for hanging in there and rescuing my peanut whistle signal from
South Carolina!
