Comments:
All S + P again. Good conditions on all bands. Best thrill was working GM3POI
on 160. How in the world did he hear me? Very motivated, and operated the most
hours in years because the Carolina DX Assn asked me to be a member of their
5-person team. The lack of sleep was like being on LSD. Well, I've never done
that, but I was hearing strange sounds fron the radio, the walls, and the
ceiling!
Still using the temporary rotatable trap dipole at 39' for 10/15/20 and the FD
style slopping wire vertical for 80M and the similar 160M inverted L which both
top out at 54'. I now have 10 radials on each which are tied together. On 40M, I
replaced the cloud-warming 160M FW loop at 20' with part of a Hytower vertical
with 18 radials giving me a full S-unit improvement over the loop that I used
in the WW phone and SS CW. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to antenna
improvements next year, but these NFG (no finite gain) antennas near the top of
a hill did amazingly well, equal to my monobander antenna farm in Colorado
scorewise, proving what everyone knows: it's NOT an even playing field!
Thanks for all the Qs and see you next weekend in the 160M test. Now how do I
get low power and a 160M inverted L that tops out at 54' to be heard on the
left coast? Oh yes, the TO5 is not scored and DT8A was scored wrong so my
score will be maybe a microquillion more before the zillion broken calls and
zones are excised (I'm sure that my O5 O5 report fell on a lot of deaf ears
after sending 04 reports for years).
