Comments:
Granddaughter had a gym meet - which I had forgotten about...but she hadn't.
Took time off to watch her and then back to the party.
Twenty meters was very strange. From here, PA always comes in great all day
long but not this weekend. Every 20m contact was a struggle except for short
periods when they were s9. More contacts on 160m this year on both CW & Phone.
80m was up this year on CW but down on Phone. Same for 40m with 40 Phone being
the pits..not really a ham band. 20m way down on both modes and same for 15m.
One lonely contact on 15m, with no problem, when moved with K3TEJ. We tried
10m
but no go. Final verdict...more CW Q's by 11 and less Phone by 85. But, thanks
to the Bonus Stations, N3SH, had 4,400 Bonus points helping beat last years
score by a slim 279 points..
Thanks, as always, to the mobiles. KB3CO, W3USA, K8RYU, WA3RA, KN4SK, AD8J,
K4MUT and the rover stations. Good hearing WA3HAE back on after a few months
absence. Also good to hear ole W3TDF, KB3LIX, K3WW, AA3B, W3BBO and others.
Going into the second day, I was missing 4 counties. POT, SUS, SUL and JUN.
Early had K3CC call me from POT. Not long into the morning, KD3YE called me
from SUS. Was on a roll but looking at my map, SUL & JUN long ways from each
other...WA3RA/m called me from Wayne County and said he was going to SUL later.
Well into the afternoon, still nothing heard from him even tho I had
one radio calling CQ PA on 14.252. Then 20m went away....and I took off to 40m
with the CQ machine....at 1962z, WA3RA called me from SUL leaving JUN for the
sweep. After tracking KB3CO/m traveling from NW to SE, I asked him about JUN
and he said might make it at the end of contest. I put one radio on 7.033 and
waited. He was still running MIF (next door) at 2100z. Then at 2114z, he QRZ'd
from JUN....SWEEP TIME!
Thanks for a fun weekend..and getting to sleep Saturday night was great for the
old man...
