W5WZ and I teamed last year and were top multi in Louisiana, with 49,632.
We had two goals this year: 1st, top last year's score, and 2nd, introduce some
newcomers to contesting.
For August 06, we accomplished #1 with a score of 77,938. A pretty fair
increase.
For #2, we invited three relative newcomers to the hobby, whose only contest
experience was Field Day. W5PEM has been licensed abt 2 years, and is a second
generation ham, while AD5XM and KE5JJJ are a father and son, who have been
licensed 7 months and 2 months, respectively. All three are now hooked!
I want to thank everyone who worked us for making this a memorable weekend for
the new guys, especially 13 year old KE5JJJ.
