Hey all, that was fun. Good break from a major yard work thrash during one of
our hottest weekends out here. I really wanted to get 200Q's. Started a log
during a short break during the day and put about 10 Q's into it. Finished yard
work at sunset, took a quick shower and got on in earnest about 8:30 PM local.
Was hoping for some life on 15M. It seemed open but not a lot of activity and
I could only put 3Q's in the log. Went to 20M for some good rate. WT9U moved me
from 20 to 15 at around 0133Z and activity was a bit better put another 7Q's.
Back to 20M and had a good run going until my wife and son come into the shack
complaining I was getting into two different TV's, aaarggh!, what a way to kill
a run. I've got to fix that.
Just prior to the move to 40M I swept 15M again for my highlight of the
contest. It wasn't actually working N6RO at 10:30PM local but my highlight was
being called his highlight in his write-up! ;-) Thanks, Ken for the Q!
My dipole failed 4th of July weekend so I had nothing for 80M and only the R7
vertical for 40. As mentioned my goal was 200Qs and I was thinking the contest
ended at 1:00 AM local. Luckily local N1IW reminded me it was a 2:00 AM finish
while he was driving home from his stint at K1IRs. I needed about 10 more Q's
at 1:00. Hit 200 at 0519Z and talk about a total mental meltdown. I suddenly
couldn't copy CW for the life of me! I toughed it out for a few more Q's and
was rewarded with HI as my last contact for a new mult. Hit the sack and was
out like a light!
