Comments:
Before the contest we were hoping to set a new world record. However, excellent
conditions on 20m caused very low activity on the lower frequencies during the
first night. The result was that on 40m we had a very low connection/hour rate.
The other major disadvantage was that our QTH was blocked by high buildings and
mountains on the side towards the USA. So we ended up missing out a lot of
connections and multipliers from North America. We were waiting for the opening
of the 10m band to Europe, which could have helped us to increase the number of
connections but unfortunately this didnâ??t happen before 1 p.m. on Sunday. At
the end, we managed to beat the world record but after revising our log we
expect a significant number of reductions. This means that the new world record
has to be still set.
We spent a beautiful and funny week in North Africa. For this we would like to
thank Franta 7X0RY/OK1DF/ who turned out to be an amazing showman and a good
host. Our big thank-you also belong to 7X2RO for his assistance in receiving
our call sign 7W2OM.
Thanks to all who called us! QSL cards will be printed and posted asap.
