My first WPX. It sure is fun getting a multiplier from the guy down the
street followed by one from the guy in Russia.
My ears aren't quite fast enough to keep up with the many fine CW ops and I
hope I didn't botch too many exchanges. I usually had to copy a few, sometimes
many, exchanges before being ready to jump in. I had to just pass on the 35+wpm
guys.
I wonder if that really helps their scores.
Running QRP with just a wire antenna sure does add to the challenge. My only
frustration was hearing JAs Saturday morning S9+ but not being able to snag a
one of them.
My early goal was to hit a modest 200 QSOs but I was in and out throughout the
weekend. Sunday was such a nice day that I went hiking for the afternoon
instead. Next year I'll have my KX1 ready to work from the field. That should
be interesting?!
