Comments:
This contest started off Friday with 30 over 9 static for over 4 hours, and a
high swr that saw power dropped to 10-15 watts. Problem later identified as
slack in the dipole causing it to ground to the tribander beam. Got over 100
QSO's in spite of the static. Added a mobile antenna tuner Saturday for full
power across the band of 100 watts. Also made a dupe sheet which proved of much
value.
The last half of the contest saw steady activity and I did not miss much of it,
wanting to beat last year's score of 172 Q's. What a pleasant surprise to reach
for the 9th logsheet, and ending with 249 QSO's. Thanks to all for so much fun,
and so much sportsmanship, patience and friendliness. Great way to celebrate my
third anniversary of being a ham (actual Friday 13th December 2002)
73,
Bill Burgess VE3CRU
