Thanks for another nice WPX contest. Condx fair, then poor and ended up very
good. QRN on low bands very high sunday evening, however it was possible to work
short skip on 15 and 10 meters.
As usual Al D4B had an extremely good signal and he is able to pick up any
station calling. Normally ONE call with 100 watts - even on low band - and he
will pick you up.
Surprised hearing/working PS2T on 40 meter saturday and sunday at 2100-2200. He
had a very good signal.
It was impossible to hear midwest and the west of US (except for a few W6-er)
as well to work all the different prefixes in Japan. - VE7 and VE6 were good and
could be worked over many hours every day.
Used an IC-775DSP, TH3MK4 at 35 feet and a Carolina Windom Beam with one leg
vertical (bend 10 meters which should give a good take off for 40 meter). That
worked and US stations answered first time I called them on 40 meter. - The
Carolina Windom NW - SE and I used it on all bands instead of turning my beam.
All neighbours were in their garden enjoying plus 29 degs c and didn't like the
BRAKE of my HAM rotor, so put the beam in main directions and used the C. W. for
all other directions. Worked fine.
