Comments:
I recently sold my old Kenwood R-5000 and got enough money to pay for a new
"shortwave radio". My new toy is a FT-857D with a CW filter. Now that I have a
radio that can handle 6 meters I decided get in on the air for the ARRL VHF
sweepstakes.
I spent about 8 hours listening both Saturday and Sunday and worked a total of
37 stations. Only worked one station that wasn't a 'local', KB9NKM in Illinois.
Even though there wasn't much coming through I did manage to work most of the
stations I could hear. I felt better after reading all the other reports that
bemoaned the poor conditions - I'll be looking forward to more action next
time...
