Comments:
Flat band conditions and terrible weather made for a long weekend. The day time
weather was just above 0 F and at night it was in the minus teens F. With the
snow, four wheel drive was required to get to the mountain top site.
Understandably, we only worked two rovers.
The bands were flat, it was tough working 8s on Saturday and maybe only ten VEs
made it into the log. On Sunday we did complete some QSOs with 9s. However
between 0105 and 0120Z Monday (Sunday evening ET) we caught a short opening to
FL and worked three grids. The weather, band conditions, and the football games
kept us from working many stations.
Just two days before the contest, there was a break in the weather and a
replacement 2m antenna was installed. The original 2m antenna boom broke in an
ice storm.
The station description is at www.qrz.com/w3so and the QSL manager is W3TEF.
Look for us in the Spring Sprints and again in ARRL June contest.
For the Wopsononock Mountaintop Operators,
