Comments:
Thanks to K6KM and N6RER for allowing me to play at their station.
Bill and I finished installing an inverted-V on his new 90' tower a few hours
before the contest. The weather was wonderful: a warm sunny day in winter... so
that surely meant the antenna wouldn't work. Well, despite the 20 over S9 line
noise on all other bands, the line noise was only about S7-S9 on 160. I was
surprised to work anyone, but it seems the new antenna was doing OK, especially
for LP. Worked 36 QSOs at 10 points or more, the best being PJ2 at 24 pts.
Only DX was PJ2, 2 KH6's and XE. Worked 1 North-East station: W2GD. Heard a
few others, but they were weak. Worked a couple of W4's... JA was a bust, but
I did HEAR 2 weak JA's (who should have been loud), but none worked. I did hear
DU9/N0NM for a bit.
CU in NAQP assuming we get some rain and the line noise goes away (or PG&E fixes
some more poles).
73, Kenny K2KW
