Working transceive at 1831 in the DX window only worked for the first ten
minutes. Then the pileup exploded, and every QSO took one or two minutes,
because everybody would just call and call and not listen to whom I was coming
back. The solution was going "split", but doing this in the DX window would kill
another "channel". So I tried to call CQ and establish a frequency somewhere in
the 1840's and 1850's with no luck. The frequencies seemed clear, but I had to
understand that there are lots of "weak" stations CQ'ing and working each other
there, and nobody could hear me.
The compromise was going to 1834.8 and work split up, not killing a second
channel in the DX window. This worked quite nicely.
