Comments:
Great fun. 44 hours in chair. 'Bout time to do a 48 for first time in years.
As usual, Jacky, P43P, was a wonderful host who combines the savvy of a world
class operator and the technical skills of a maestro.
Particular challenges this year were getting his (P43P) station back together
after a one-two punch of a lightning strike and a tornado twister hit the
station during the hurricane season. Providentially, we ended up getting it all
together just before the contest and suffered no major Murphy equipment issues
in the event.
Not quite the same for the undersigned operator whose incipient senility
combined with a two year contesting drought meant relearning too many old
lessons in the midst of the contest. Making notes and hope that next time will
allow for a few days of simply operating before contest to get the cobwebs out.
Best SO2R performance ever, but still don't have the mental and strategic
balance quite right. On the one hand missed a lot of easy mults. On the other,
got distracted with second radio and let run rates suffer. Anyone who thinks
SO2R is an easy panacea hasn't tried to do it seriously.
Thanks to all for QSO's and congrats to Al, D4B, and Jose at EA8ZS (and probably
others).
