Comments:

This effort was dedicated to my dad who passed away two days before last year's
CQP.

Went against my usual rule of not using an amp for a stateside contest, but with
expected conditions being el stinko I felt I'd better. Plus this would be the
first workout for the Drake L7 I purchased and modified earlier this year. At
the start counties were coming in at a fantastic rate. I had dreams of being the
first to 58 when eveything stalled. Went to bed Saturday night with 57 in the
log, needing only San Benito. Finally picked him up at 16:26 the next day.
Thanks ND6E. Ten meters opened fantastically on Sunday and it was the only place
I could get a decent run going. The rate meter went to 114 for a half hour or so
on SSB.

Where were all the mobiles? Thank goodness for K6AQL/m and W6OAT/m for providing
a bunch of counties and QSO's. The activity level was so high from fixed
stations they weren't really needed to keep the interest level up as is so often
found in other state QSO parties. But they are appreciated!

I found several fixed stations that refused to ID after every QSO or even after
every other. I often waited for several QSO's only to find out he was worked
before. Bummer. My low band strategy needs work (and antennas), Probably went to
bed too early and missed a bunch of QSO's especially on 75m and 160m.

Lots of B-I-G signals out there and thanks NCCC for showing the rest of the
country how to sponsor a QSO party. Can you say wine? Goes well with the smoked
salmon (WA) and wild rice (MN)!

FT1000MP, L7, TH6DXX 50', 40/80m 1/4 sloper, 160m inv vee 47', TR Log (of
course)

73,
Tom N2CU <><
