I suppose the NW was not the place to be for this contest. By looking at the
scores it really paid off to be south and east!
My first August NAQP, and only 2nd NAQP CW outside of KL7. Also my 2nd time
using full SO2R. Joe's station just rules! Too bad it's in OR and not FL or
TX. :)
10m was only open to NM from here. Squeaked a CO qso. Never heard anyone else.
Nobody. Zip. Nada. Moved a lot of guys and nothing. N6ZZ, N2IC, K7UP were
599. 7/7 on 10m and I only hear 2 states. Sheesh!
160 was decent enough, but everyone was CQ in face. VE4VV, K5KA, W5KFT, K5PTC
were all over s9 and no cpi on me. 15 died really early.
Everyone said I was nuts to drive 10 hours round trip for NAQP in August. They
all said it was "boring" and "not worth it"... man it was FUN! The competition
between N6MJ and myself kept me motivated. I didn't even have an urge to quit
for pizza. The Hot Pocket tradition continues, however.
Congrats to The Chief, and all the other high scorers. Don't worry boys, we'll
be ready for the more W7 friendly January edition!
