Comments:
My best score yet in CQ 160 SSB: same QSO total as '03 but 14 instead of 8
countries. Conditions good: low QRN. EUs heard and 2 worked first night,
but none second night. Worked MT, WY, and WA but no CA. Seven (7)
RI stations! DE and DC, next door, much harder: one DE, one very weak
DC station. Working D4B and CN2R was exciting. My last two tries at this
contest, '01 and '03, were spoiled by terrible QRN: lightning or P static. I
had about decided 160 was a CW band and SSB there was unnatural; got
on just to give PVRC buddies some QSOs, but found to my surprise that
I was actually having fun, so I stuck with it and got my best result yet, in
spite of going to the local DX club meeting for several hours Sat. evening.
