Comments:
First contest for me as an SO and really my first true contest effort. Put up
an 11 element for 2 meters on Monday - no rotor so decided to fix it NE at 60
degrees. Made a goal of 100 QSO's total. Made that goal and it feels great -
the last 20 were the hardest! Worked the first 12 hours with an hour break for
dinner and to tuck the harmonic in. Sunday afternoon worked 30 minutes and then
the final 3 hours.
I decided I need a proper 6 meter antenna as the 20 meter attic dipole just
doesn't cut it. In June I hope to have a beam for 6 and both beams mounted to a
rotor. Need to think about adding more height (talk XYL into a tower). I feel
I did a great job with my limited setup and now have a greater understanding of
how to work a contest and my IC-746PRO to pull the weak signals out of the QRM.
