Comments:
Not easy with an HF6VX (with 160m add-on). Inadequate radial system in the
garden meant the worms, at least, had a comfortable two nights. Made countless
trips outside through the night to adjust the loading coil to move resonance up
or down 10K at a time. Hope none of my neighbours saw me. It's hard enough
explaining why I'm changing/moving antennas/masts under normal circumstances,
but at 4am....hmmm!
Got used to the more distant EU's not hearing me (UA, LZ, YO etc) and having to
do many repeats to those closer in, who could. Heard zilcho from NA, except
W4MYA, who of course, did'nt hear me.
Despite all the above comments, I did actually enjoy CQ160, and was pleased to
even get QRV on 160m from my so called "suburban plot". And, for a brief period
at least, my "worm BBQ" station did have an EU pile up - It did'nt last though
:-(
Here's to the next CQ160 CW. Hopefully I can add a few more (LONG) radials by
then.
