Comments:
Above summary includes SSB and CW QSO's and Mults, as my software doesn't
breakdown CW/SSB per band in summary form...
STATS:
626 SSB QSO's
604 CW QSO's
434 VE QSO's
28 RAC QSO's
768 DX QSO's
5.23 Points per QSO.
AVG of 64 QSO's per hour of on-time
Not the score I was shooting for, but whaddaya do...
Lots of fun and good participation from both inside and outside VE...Missed some
mults I shouldn't have (ON on 10 SSB and QC on 10 CW - should have had many of
both)...Also missed PE and NL on many bands (only 2 PE and 5 NL mults logged),
guess they are too close for the higher freq's...Only had 2 YT and one NT, all
on 15 SSB...Didn't hear any NU stations...
High points :
Great propagation for the most part on all bands
New 80 metre antenna worked fantastic and netted me 18 mults, including all the
western provinces on both modes...I'm not used to hearing stations west of ON on
80 metres...
Being called by EL2DX, ZK1CG, VE8NDS and OX3SA
Low points :
40 metre antenna went screwy Sat evening...Break or short in the system
somewhere...Wouldn't tune properly so lost valuable QSO's there...
Only 28 of a possible 168 QSO's with 20 point RAC stations...Not sure if they
weren't on all bands/modes or I just didn't hear them...Mult count suffered a
little because of this...
Spent too much time running on CW when I should have been running SSB with the
higher inherant rates...Also didn't spend enough time combing the bands for new
mults...
MOST CONFUSION: Being called by K3WWP, K3WW and K4WW all at the same time on
CW...Worked all 3 in a row, but took a while!!
WISH LIST:
Single mode categories, CW QSO's having a higher point value than SSB QSO's and
eliminate the Telnet = Multi-Op status...
Equipment: ONE Mark V at 90-95 watts, tribander for 10-15-20, dipoles for 40, 80
and 160...No Telnet...Could only watch my dead amp silently collect dust all
weekend...Used N1MM Logger which performed flawlessly as usual...
Thanks for all the calls and thanks to the stations that moved to other
bands/modes when requested...I spent a lot of time moving around for other
stations, adds to the fun...
Happy New Year to all and C U in 2004 !!
73, Scott VE1OP
