Comments:
Although propagation was not good, we did have a good time. Thanks to all who we
contacted. My apologies to thoes who had to endure the hum on my signal while on
the dipole. The electricity in the screened in shelter was archaic and the amp
was sucking every bit of amperage out of the circuit.
The 10m sterba curtain performed flawlessly again this year. Signal reports from
the north and northeast were consistently 20 over 9.
We were surprised how late the band was open on Friday night. Mostly along the
southern tier of the US. So about midnight cst, we decided to shut it down.
Saturday started off slow but picked up as the day went on. I lost one operator
to another commitment so I was running solo until ae5nl showed up for a few
hours of operating. We did more eyeball qso's than operating. Well, Saturday
night was about the same as Friday except for the lack of rain. The wx turned
cold so the propane heater was working harder than me.
Looking forward to next years contest. This contest is one we like to do from a
remote location. When the band dies, we can sit around the camp fire and
jaw-jack about anything and everything.
