Comments:
I wasn't sure I wanted to work this contest. Wife got sick and had to go to the
Dr., and I blew out a diode in my AL1500 about an hour into the contest.
Fortunately I had another amp sitting on the floor. Very wierd conditions. The
band was dead at the beginning but seemed to open back up a little. Worked
several FL stns and then several CA stations (all pretty weak). I finally quit
and went to bed. Band opened up a little right after sunrise and kept me busy
for some time. Had 850 plus Qs the first day. My wife apparently gave me her flu
and I gave up on Sunday. Much better EU opening on Sunday than on Saturday,
although that's not saying much. I worked two stations over the pole on saturday
at 2230Z OH and UA (very weak and watery.) I think my southerly location, 220
miles south of San Antonio helped me out.
