Thanks to W9RE for helping on the tower fixing a loose
10 meter gamma match. I ended up starting on 10 meters
this year and I felt like I was a W6! Absorption seemed
to go up very fast with lower frequencies. Heard W4PA
warming up before the contest on 20 and he was super weak.
But on 10 I was getting a mixture of skip and scatter that
worked very well. My best start ever.
Did more power splitting between various antennas this year,
not sure if it was effective or not.
Folks have really started to move down the bands. Noticed on
40 that there was a station calling CQ SS on 7001!
Not sure whether to be frustrated about the NT mult (missed)
or not. Spent a lot of time with antennas pointed up that
way, especially after working KL7's. But never heard a peep.
There's nothing like a Sunday of CW SS to turn you into an
animal, ready to pounce on any new call that moves. There are
so many similar 1x2 calls these days ... just one dit or dah
makes it a dupe and your hopes can be dashed. Now if I can just
turn back into a human being again ...
