Comments:
The G5RV antenna that worked so well in Radiosport wasn't the right choice for
Ohio QSO Party. I thought it would have more high-angle radiation than it
evidently did, but working the Ohio mobiles on 20 and 40 meters was very
difficult. Worked lots of stations in the deep South, Plains and West Coast,
though...hi. My Ohio county total wasn't good, worse than last year, I
believe.
I had a great time, the rates were much better here after the sun went down, and
80 meters was the band with the best. My total on 80 meters was done in much
fewer hours than the time I spent all day on 40.
Next year I'll make sure I have some dipoles close to the ground, so I have
better luck with the Ohio mobiles. Thanks to everyone for the contacts, and I
hope to work you again next year!
Rig: FT1000MP 100 watts
Antennas: 3 ele quad used a little bit on 20, G5RV mostly on 20-40-80.
Logging software: WriteLog
73 and see you next time,
John
