Comments:
Whew! This was a tough contest. High power line noise and poor conditions to
EU made this a frustrating effort. Apologies to those (particularly the JAs on
15 and EUs on 40) that I just couldn't copy through the noise.
In contrast to last year at ZF2AF, where 36% of my QSOs were with EU, only 16%
were EU this time. This led to a lower multiplier total and also probably a
lower contact total, as I had to try to mold my operating strategy around the
search for European openings.
There was quite a shootout on Aruba this year, with Jackie (P43P) as P41P,
John (KK9A) as P40A, and myself (AE6Y) as P40Y. Jackie operated from his own
fine station on the north shore of the island, John from his villa at the
norhwest tip, and I from the ex-P40V QTH now owned by myself and W6LD. However
the great Aruba shootout turns out, I think John wins a moral victory for doing
it low power!
