Comments:
Many thanks to Pat and Steph for putting enough duct tape on the antennas after
Lili had her way with them. The good thing about having 40 HF antennas, is that
when a hurricane blows through, enough of them problem are left over to operate
a contest. Some new tribanders were put up in the last week to make sure.
First time for QRP in CW SS - was very surprised how well I was getting out.
Probably operating in the middle of a lake had something to do with it (there
was water everywhere). The 40 meter antenna didn't look pretty - but it worked
FB. I had 448 band changes - and 383 S$P QSOs (probably 300 of which were 2nd
radio QSOs).
Equipment - 2 x TS850S
Antennas: 80 - three element vertical parasitic array NE
40 - 3 element full sized beam NE / 4 ele KLM NW
20 - 4/4 to the NE, 6 element N, 204BA NW
15 - 4/4 to the NE, 6 element N, 6/6 to NW
10 - 4/4 to the NE, 4/4 to the NW
plus various quads and tribanders in various directions.
Never heard VY1JA. Was lucky to have VO1HE call me and give me #2 at 1318Z on
20 meters. Strategy of staying down low in the band seemed to pay off.
