Comments:
Well, the first bad sign was that when we woke up in the morning, we were
surrounded by smoke, and ash was drifting down like snow. The Ponderosa
fire had moved during the night, and the wind had shifted, so we couldn't
see the sky. After a hour on the scanner and the phone, it appeared that
where there was smoke there wasn't fire (yet, anyway) so onto the radio
with virtually no preparation.
