Comments:
This was my first "serious" contest effort after returning to hamming from a 20
year hiatus. Having fun hamming again and this contest helped! Thanks to my
wife who "waited" on me even though I wasn't *too* demanding!
Had several people tell me that they went outside to see if their antennas were
still up or their coax had been cut! After looking forward to this contest for
weeks Murphy strikes with an X flare!
Had never used a computer to log so had to learn to type and operate at the
same time - another new dimension to hamming that didn't exist 20 years ago.
Murphy also struck because my computer to rig interface picked up RF and the
keying circuit would lock up - how about a ten second first dash in "CQ"!
This contest was also a good way to say "RIP" to WB8CLF. I passed my Extra
about 2 weeks before the contest and have a vanity call in process. Hope to do
better next year with a shorter call. Some of you guys can complete a whole CW
QSO in the time it takes to send WB8CLF!!
Already looking forward to next year.
Paul
