Wow! What a great contest. A huge thanks to Tom, W6KP is in order for this
one. It was a last minute decision to go up to his QTH, but I am definately
glad that I did.
Condx on 10m were amazing, I could have easily made 900 q's on 10 if I stayed
there the whole time it was open. I grabed a nice quiet freq about 5 minutes
before show time, and stayed there for the next 4 hours. I had 1 radio for
every band to help speed up band changes, only problem was I didnt have quite
enough mics with me. I always used my heil on the run radio, and a cheapo
kenwood hand mic on the s&p radio.. Its not the best setup, but it obviously
works. I forgot to bring my voicer with me, so it was tough trying to call CQ
and listen on the 2nd radio at the same time. Thanks a million to everyone who
moved for me. I made a total of 485 band changes, and moved 34 mults.
I had no 160m antenna for this contest, so that was kind of a bummer. But
there will be several station upgrades in the next few weeks. We will put the
160m tower back up (somebody cut the guys and it fell over.) Tom also has a 4
square on 80m ready to go, all we need is a phasing box for it.
