Had a great start before sundown on Friday, ended up 200 Qs below my 1998
score, despite an improved RX antenna situation and relative lack of noise.
Only things missing were propagation to the populated northeast US and
activity! Used the second RX extensively in-between CQs. Had many dupes from
W6/7 stations - they were probably not using a logging program.
Heavy fog Sunday AM caused precip. noise on all antennas, even the wire under
the eaves (meant to reduce rain static). This noise obscured many JAs and
possible East coast stations after 10Z. Worked only 34 JAs compared to 100+ in
previous years. Missed all sections in W1/W2/VE1/2. except WNY and EMa (Jeff
was a whisper in Northern CA). No sign of SA/VK/ZL/EU(of course), but the five
Caribbeans heard were loud. Most interesting was a 15 minute JA opening AFTER
sunrise on Sunday, audible on the high dipole, but not the 800' JA beverage!
