First day coditions were good, with a weak but useable long path opening
first to Zones 16 & 20, then to Zones 14 & 15 starting at 5z and ending
at 12z. Many stations here were worked with the gain on the 1000MP wide
open (S-zero).

Conditions fell off dramatically at 0z of the second day. The long path
started to open to Zones 16 & 20 again at 5z, but never made it to Zones
14 & 15 as during the first night.

Stations worked 1st night 7z-12z: 260
Stations worked 2nd night 7z-12z: 1

An interesting thing happened between 6z & 7z the second night. We
started hearing JA (4500 miles), and zones 18 & 19 at equal signal
strengths, whether beaming short or long path! This signalled the
beginning of the end for us that night.

Lots of good CW ops out there, thanks for all the Qso's. We must also
mention, unfortunately, that there are also a growing number of
operators whose operating skill is being seriously compromised by their
dependence on Packet, and to some degree, keyboard CW. KNOW who you are
calling BEFORE you work him. Knowing means hearing the call yourself,
NOT what you see someone else post that they think they heard. USE THE
SPACEBAR before you call....... it's the biggest key on the keyboard.

I would also like to thank Ken, KH7R, for his uncompromising dedication
to excellence in station performance. The past several years of working
with him, KH7U, AH6OZ, and the rest of the gang, has been time well
spent, and most satisfying and rewarding.

See you guys and gals in 2K.

Aloha,

Mike
